Deadlocked

So it's 11:42 PM and I just finished reading Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris. For those of you who don't read or have no access to pop culture or media, Harris writes the books that were adapted into the TrueBlood television series. I'm can be a bit of a nerd and I love her books. Are they historically correct? No. Are they expanding my knowledge of a real world topic? No. But they are wildly enjoyable to read, AND who doesn't like slipping away into a fantasy world for a few hours?

I believe that it is the 12th book in her series and she is making one more. That makes me nervous, I have this weird thing where I don't read the last book in a series. I can honestly say I've never finished a book series because of this. I wonder what this says about me?

Overall, I liked the book fine. It didn't provide the intense action scenes that the other books provided, and there weren't really any new characters added (probably because she's trying to wrap up the series). I've always been a fan of Eric the vampire, and he was barely even in this book.

Even though I'm not a fan of the show, I do LOVE Alexander Skarsgard :)

One thing I'm not a huge fan of is the TrueBlood television show. I know that a lot of people love it, but it is NOTHING like the books. The characters are different and things are added or taken away to completely change the direction of the show. Every time someone tells me that they love TrueBlood, I tell them to pick up one of the novels and then tell me how they feel about the show. I'm sure it's a great show, but when you can't get your own perceptions out of your head and you keep comparing it with the books, it just doesn't measure up.

Now, I'm not the type of person who will read anything about vampires. I think that these are actually the only vampire novels I read. I hate that vampires and other fantasy creatures have become so popular. A few years ago, if you liked vampires or other seemingly dark things you were weird. Nowadays its totally normal. It's interesting how pop culture can change our views on certain subjects.

Well, now I need a new book to read. 15 days till my summer classes start. I'm really starting to get fed up with school. It's funny, I remember reading the first book in the series in my tiny freshman dorm room. It's certainly strange how things time out.

Well, that's all for me!
